a 25-year plan for physicality
In business, we hear a lot about prepping for the future: three-year plans, five-year plans, vision boards to help you imagine the success of your company. In life, we hear a lot about IRAs and 401(k)s and all the ways to save for the “golden years.” You know what we never hear a lot about? Anyone’s plans to develop the physical skills and capabilities that will allow them to do the things they want to do when they’re seventy-five, eighty, ninety, and beyond. Where is the twenty-five-year plan with the end goal of “Hey, I want to be able to walk around Disneyland with my grandkids for two days and not have to rely on anyone else to hoist my luggage into the overhead bin on a plane. I want to still be able to ride my mountain bike and have the strength to get up off the floor if I fall, and shower standing up when I’m ninety-nine”?
